I have over 37 years of safety, workers’ compensation and human resource experience in a variety of industries. I graduated in 1980 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) with a BS in Safety Engineering, then went on to get a Master’s degree in Safety from the same University. I also received a second Master’s degree in Public Management with a concentration in Human Resources and Health Care Administration from Carnegie Mellon University. I began employment in 1980 as Director of Corporate Safety for the PDM Corporation. For fifteen years, I was the Senior Director of Risk Management for Allegheny Health Education and Research Foundation, one of the largest non-profit hospital systems in the United States. While with AHERF, I managed a self-insured and self-administered workers’ compensation program. I then worked as a Vice President for the Frank Gates Corporation, a workers’ compensation claims administrator, and finally District Manager for CorVel Corporation before coming to ECRM. I also hold designations as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and a Certified Workers’ Compensation Analyst (CWCA). I am proud of having a diverse background with a concentration in Safety, Workers’ Compensation Claim Management, Information Systems, and Human Resources.
I am a proud Pittsburgh native, married for 36 years to Karen with two grown daughters, Alex and Abby. I am also a dedicated golden retriever owner with two special girls, Dublin and Rooski. In my free time I enjoy woodworking, house projects, golfing, working out and spending time with family and friends.

If you had to pick one meal to eat every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A nice rare steak with a glass or two of a bold red wine.
Where was your most memorable vacation?
Honduras. My niece had a break from serving in the Peace Corps and a large group of family went to meet her on the island of Roatan. While there, a group of us learned how to scuba dive along one of the best reefs in the world. A close second was a week playing golf in Scotland including the old course at St. Andrews.
