East Coast Risk Management of North Carolina is now certified to provide flagger training. Effective July 1, 2010, anyone directing traffic in a work zone must complete a NC DOT — approved Flagger Training. Our 4-hour student class is approved and meets the requirements of the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The successful student receives a Certificate of Completion and wallet card, plus a laminated Participant Guide to keep for future reference. Flagger certification is good for three years. East Coast Risk Management is now certified to provide SafeLandUSA training! Many oil and gas companies involved in the Marcellus Shale Formation are requiring that the employees of all contractors successfully complete a SafeLandUSA orientation program and also carry with them, an official photo-ID indicating they have completed the SafeLandUSA orientation. SafeLandUSA training will provide general safety information that an employee should know before performing their specified work duties. Upon completion of this program, each attendee will be issued a photo-ID stating that they have been successfully trained and have an understanding of the safety issues in the oil and gas industry. East Coast Risk Management is pleased to announce the hiring of Mark Komosinski to the position of Safety Consultant working out of our Schuylkill Haven Pennsylvania office. Mark earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from Purdue University in 2007. He is currently pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Human Performance Technology and a Master of Science degree in Instructional and Performance Technology from Boise State University. Before beginning with ECRM, Mark began his professional career at JELD-WEN Windows and Doors in Ocoee, FL. During the last three years, Mark worked for Sonoco Products Company in South Carolina, Indiana, and most recently in Robesonia, PA as a Shift Supervisor. At Sonoco, Mark was highly involved in plant safety committee operations, behavior based safety initiatives, employee training/certification, and compliance auditing/inspections. Mark has extensive experience in the areas of OSHA Compliance, Behavior Based Safety, Incident Investigation, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Hazardous Energy Control Procedures (HECP), Machine Guarding, Supervisor Safety Training, and Employee Coaching.

East Coast Risk Management is pleased to announce the hiring of Darlene Vila to the position of Workers Compensation Claim Manager working out of our North Huntingdon Pennsylvania office. Darlene has over 25 years experience successfully handling workers compensation claims in various states. Prior to joining ECRM, Darlene worked for Specialty Risk Services as a Senior Claims Adjuster. Darlene is also a licensed insurance agent.

East Coast Risk Management is pleased to announce the hiring of Greg Safran to the position of Senior Safety Consultant working out of our Canfield Ohio office. Greg graduated from Slippery Rock University with a Bachelors of Science in Geology. Greg is also a licensed insurance agent in various states. Greg has extensive experience in Safety and Environmental Engineering. Prior to joining ECRM, Greg worked for SOS Consulting as a loss prevention professional.

East Coast Risk Management is pleased to announce that it has acquired the firm of Safety Services Consulting, located in Darlington PA, and that the principal, David O’Neill will be joining our staff as a Senior Safety Consultant. Dave stated “I decided to seek a merger with ECRM because I believe that a larger risk management organization will allow me to provide my clients with a wider array of services. ECRM shares the same values and philosophy that Safety Services does. ECRM exceeds my hopes for a firm I can merge with and continue the tradition I have for excellent customer service, deep expertise, and an environment my clients want to be a part of.” Dave has over 25 years of safety experience in a variety of fields and will be working out of the North Huntingdon Office.

East Coast Risk Management is pleased to announce the hiring of Molly Hall to the position of Safety Consultant working out of our Gary Indiana office. Molly comes to ECRM with a bachelors of Science in Safety Engineering from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Molly is also pursuing her Masters in Safety from the same University, with an expected graduation date of May 2010. In her capacity with ECRM, Molly will be servicing the needs of clients throughout the state of Indiana.

East Coast Risk Management is pleased to announce the hiring of Frank Castillo to the position of Senior Safety Consultant working out of our Raleigh, North Carolina office.  Frank earned an Environmental Safety and Health (MESH) degree from NC State University as well as Masters of Science in Secondary Education (MSEd) from the University of Miami. Prior to joining ECRM, Frank worked as a Safety Professional for a major hospital system in Raleigh, NC.  Frank also was an OSHA Safety Compliance Officer for the state-run NC Department of Labor.  Fully competent in reading and writing Spanish, Mr. Castillo has traveled extensively throughout Mexico and is familiar with the customs and behavioral aspects of Latino culture.

ECRM is pleased to announce the addition of Aaron Black. Aaron will assume the newly developed position of Manger of Business Development, working out of the corporate office. Aaron has a Bachelor of Science in Safety Engineering from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining ECRM, Aaron was a Risk Engineering Consultant with Zurich Insurance where he provided sales, safety support and account coordination. Aaron is also licensed in Pennsylvania for Property and Casualty Insurance. Aaron will be concentrating on growing our business as we expand opportunities in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Ohio and other states serviced by the Keystone Insurers Group.

ECRM is pleased to announce that Chris Palmisano, working out of our Raleigh and Chapel Hill NC offices, is now among a special group of environmental, safety and health professionals to have earned the Manager of Environmental, Safety and Health (MESH) certificate from NC State University, the Safety and Health Council of NC, and the NC Department of Labor. Chris was approved by the MESH Board of Directors to receive the Manager of Environmental, Safety and Health programs certificate. “We commend his efforts for having met high standards of proficiency in the environmental, safety and health field through substantial professional experience and superior performance”, said Mike Lukart, President of ECRM. “His commitment to continuing education will aid in providing outstanding service to our valuable clients” he added.

East Coast Risk Management is pleased to announce the hiring of Chris Palmisano to the position of Safety Consultant working out of our Raleigh, North Carolina office.  Chris comes to ECRM with a wealth of safety, training and emergency management experience.  Most recently, Chris was employed by the City of Raleigh, Capital Area Transit authority as their Operations Safety Director.  Chris also worked as a firefighter for the City of Philadelphia.  Chris is a U.S. Veteran, having served in the US Air Force in their Ordinance Disarming Unit.  In his capacity with ECRM, Chris will be servicing the needs of clients throughout the North Carolina area.

East Coast Risk Management is pleased to announce the hiring of Cara Mia Londino, Esquire to the position of Human Resource Consultant working out of the North Huntingdon office. Cara graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Human Resource Management from Point Park College in Pittsburgh PA. Cara then went on to earn her law degree from the Duquesne University School of Law. In her capacity with ECRM, Cara will be available to assist clients with all their Human Resource needs.

East Coast Risk Management has been approved by the Pennsylvania Bureau of Labor & Industry as a third party workers' compensation claims administrator.  "Becoming registered with the State of Pennsylvania as a TPA is just a natural extension of the current proactive claims service we already provide our valued clients," said Mike Lukart, President of East Coast Risk Management.  "We can now manage the entire claims process for self-insured clients, insurance captives, risk pools and other alternative market entities" he added.
